Denis Richard, Ph.D.
Director of the Research Centre

The Quebec Heart And Lung Institute Research Centre (CRIUCPQ) is internationally renowned for the leading role of its researchers and is financed by the Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec (FRSQ). Research is centered around three main research themes: cardiology, respirology, and obesity and energy metabolism. In very close relationship with the overspecialization fields of the hospital, these themes have ongoing interactions between them thus promoting rich collaborations between clinical and fundamental researchers. The addition of the obesity and energy metabolism research theme in 2000 proved to be both a pivotal and successful occasion for the Research Centre. The Centre has all the assets to carry out its innovative vision of leading-edge research in cardiology, respirology and obesity. The CRIUCPQ is the only research centre in Canada to house such research themes, and its development is consistent with the vision of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

Research at the CRIUCPQ enjoys an outstanding expansion that translates into an important growth in productivity, training, and in human and financial resources.
